As a national park of rich biodiversity, Cuc Phuong harbors 19 plant communities, including over 2000 species of trees contained within 231 families and 931 genera.
At present, 118 valuable and rare species, 11 endemic species, 433 medicinal plant species, and 137 tanniferous plant species have been identified in the park.
The fauna of Cuc Phuong National Park is also very rich. 659 vertebrate animal species have been identified within the park, including 66 species of fishes, 67 species of reptiles, 43 species of amphibians, 336 species of birds and 135 species of mammals. There are also 1899 species and forms of invertebrate animals, belonging to 169 families, 33 orders, 6 classes and 3 phyla. There are 81 valuable and rare species listed in Vietnam’s Red Book and IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species.
